How to Enable SMTP Authentication for Microsoft Outlook 2016

Step-By-Step Guide

1. Launch Outlook.

2. From the Tools menu, select Account Settings.

3. Choose the email account from the list and click Change.

4. In the Change E-mail Settings window, click on More Settings.

5. Navigate to the Outgoing Server tab and check the box for My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.

6. Go to the Advanced tab and adjust the Outgoing server (SMTP) port.

7. If you prefer to use SSL, set the port to 465 and select SSL from the encryption drop-down menu.

8. If you don’t wish to use SSL, change the port to 25 or 587.
