1. Attempt to re-send the message.
i.) Click on Send All in the Send/Receive tab of Outlook.
ii.) Verify your Outbox to check if the message has been removed.
2. The message may be too large.
An email can become stuck if it contains an attachment that exceeds the size limits for certain email servers. For instance, your workplace might impose restrictions on the size of email messages you can send or receive. That presentation filled with colorful pie charts could be the cause.
If re-sending the message doesn’t succeed, try to reduce the size of the attachments and send it again.
i.) To do this, you may first attempt to delete or open the message in the Outbox. However, that might not be effective. You won’t be able to open or delete a message if it is currently processing. Instead, you will likely see this message.
ii.) To halt Outlook’s operations, you can go offline. In the Send/Receive tab, select Work Offline.
iii.) Now you can open the message, take out the attachment, reduce its size, and re-send it. Alternatively, you can delete the message and start anew—provided you have a copy of the attachment.
3.) The email server may be offline.
Occasionally, Outlook is unable to send your messages because your email server is offline—whether it’s a work server or an online one.
i.) Please check if your server is offline. If so, you might see “Disconnected” in the Status bar.
