Receiving duplicate emails through a POP3 connection in Microsoft Outlook is a fairly common problem.
To minimize the chances of encountering duplicate emails:
1. Ensure that there are no duplicate email accounts configured within the same MS Outlook.
2. Confirm that only one instance of MS Outlook is running. Check the task manager to verify
that there are no duplicate outlook.exe processes active on the same system. Multiple instances of
outlook.exe running can lead to duplicate messages being received simultaneously. You will need to
investigate why two instances of Outlook were running initially.
3. Verify that you have Service Pack 2 installed if you are using MS Outlook on Windows XP.
Between steps to resolve the issue, please try:
1. Close MS Outlook to disconnect the POP3 access
(This is to prevent your email account from being locked on the server)
2. Log in to your webmail account
3. Check your inbox and delete any unwanted emails, spam emails, or large emails
4. Log out of the webmail
5. Reopen MS Outlook and attempt to receive the emails via the POP3 connection again
